December 2013 - Greater Cincinnati Automobile Dealers Association

ATTENTION: Contest Extension!

The #CincyAutoExpo Forum Car Contest entry deadline has been EXTENDED to January 31st.  We are looking for cars to be ON DISPLAY at the Cincinnati Auto Expo for the thousands of guests to see. There are three different categories that cars can be entered under: Muscle/Hot Rod, Classic/Old School, or Tuner.

To enter, simply go to www.gcada.net/carcontest , fill out the necessary form, and attach a recent photograph of your vehicle.  We will upload it to our facebook page where fans can vote on the cars by “liking” the photos.  Finalists will be chosen, and the judges at the GCADA will select the three winners.

It’s that easy to enter.  Once entered, check up on your entry on our facebook page, like your own entry, and promote it to your friends.  The more votes, the better!

Good luck to all, and we’ll see you at the 2014 Cincinnati Auto Expo!

Do you have a vanity plate on your car?  Vanity plates are always fun to try and figure out when you see them on the road, but many request for plates are denied every year by a BMV committee that inspects all requests before creating those plates containing shortened phrases.

Feds want more safety features standard on all cars

The heads of two federal traffic safety agencies said recently that safety features such as forward collision warning, electronic stability control and lane departure warning systems should be standard equipment on all vehicles, regardless of price. The remarks at the Governors Highway Safety Association conference by David Strickland, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and Deborah Hersman, chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, were reported by Edmunds.com.

“Safety should not just be for those who can afford it,” Hersman said.

Former Edmunds chairman Jeremy Anwyl told the panel that in the future, safety technology will focus more on collision avoidance than accident prevention.

The panel also focused on distracted driving. Hersman said NTSB aims to ban all portable electronic devices from vehicles. But Anwyl, saying consumers’ need to stay connected through their cell phones is “almost an addiction,” believes the answer lies in driver education.
