September 2015 - Greater Cincinnati Automobile Dealers Association

Last chance to register!

Folks, Buckles’ journey is coming to an end as we’re wrapping up our SAFE TRAVEL FOR KIDS!!™ Campaign for September.  We hope that this year’s message found you kindly.  Car seat registration is a must!  Just like other products, although they undergo rigorous testing and evaluation, child safety seats can be recalled.  If you haven’t registered your child’s car seat with its manufacturer, they have no way of contacting you in the event of a recall.

If you haven’t already, make sure you head on over to our Evenflo Car Seat Giveaway registration page for your chance to win one of 12 Evenflo child safety seats.  The contest ends this Wednesday, September 30th, at midnight.  Good luck to all of our contestants; we thank you for taking part in our SAFE TRAVEL FOR KIDS!!™ Campaign.

Lastly, a HUGE THANKS goes out to our partners, Evenflo for their generous donation of car seats and their support of our campaign promotion, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) for all their help to support this initiative and campaign promotion as well.   It was wonderful to be a part of CCHMC’s car seat inspection this month, and we appreciate their expert technicians for kicking off the month with us at Kings Island.  We’re very proud of our partnerships, and look forward to promoting Child Passenger Safety Month with them again in 2016!

Car seats get recalled – is your child’s seat registered?

As we near the final stretch of our SAFE TRAVEL FOR KIDS!! ™ Campaign, we want to remind you about the importance of car seat registration.  Although child restraint systems are rigorously tested, just like other things they can be recalled!  In the event of a recall, it’s important to have registered your child’s safety seat with its manufacturer, so that they are able to contact you directly.

Only 42.5% of recalled child safety seats are taken care of.  This means, more than half of children riding in recalled safety seats, are continuing to do so!  No one would intentionally endanger a child by allowing them to ride in an unsafe car or booster seat, however failing to register the seat with its manufacturer could be the cause of unintentionally doing so.  Car seat registration is highly important; not something one should put off.  Head on over to our Child Passenger Safety information page for more instructions on car seat registration.

Also, sign up for our Evenflo Car Seat/Booster Seat Giveaway!  There’s only about a week left to enter to win 1 of 12 Evenflo child safety seats.  On October 1st, one of 6 Evenflo car seats and 6 Evenflo booster seats will be given to 12 lucky winners!

Cars we waited for that never came

Creativity and innovation are key characteristics in the automotive industry.  In fact, so many creative ideas are thought of, not all make it to become a reality.  Motor Trend has compiled 15 cars, trucks, and SUVs from the previous 15 years that were supposed to be roadworthy and in dealerships or available on Craigslist by now, if not in their presented form then very close to it:  15 Cars we waited for that never came.  Check it out!

Is Your Child’s Car Seat Registered??

September is National Child Passenger Safety Month!  To promote this initiative, each year the GCADA’s SAFE TRAVEL FOR KIDS!!™ Campaign adopts a new theme.  This year, we are reminding parents and caregivers to REGISTER THEIR CHILD’S CAR SEAT with it manufacturer!  Although child restraint systems undergo rigorous testing and evaluation, it’s still possible that a car seat or booster seat could be RECALLED!  In the event of a recall, the manufacturer will be able to contact the parent/caregiver directly if the seat has been registered.

Car seat registration is fairly easy to do; you’ll just need to know your car seat’s model name, number, and manufacture date, all of which can be found on the seat’s label.  For more information on car seat registration, and child passenger safety, click here!

Also, remember to sign up for our Evenflo Car Seat/Booster Seat Giveaway!  All month long, we’re giving people the opportunity to sign up to win 1 of 12 Evenflo car/booster seats.  On October 1st, one of 6 Evenflo car seats and 6 Evenflo booster seats will be given to 12 lucky winners!  To enter to win, click here!
