Kids, be safe and seen on Halloween!

Safe Kids Worldwide has a Halloween message for kids that we here at the GCADA are helping to promote this week; “It’s fun to be seen on Halloween.”  Halloween should be scary for all of the right reasons.  It’s essential that all of our little princesses and monsters have some sort of reflective gear on them to remain safe and able to be seen, whether it’s their clothing, a flashlight, glow-stick, or a reflective bag.  Check out the video on our homepage of kids showing us all how fun it is to be seen on Halloween!

Teen Driver Safety Week!

This week is National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW), which is observed annually in the U.S. during the 3rd week of October.  It was after a series of tragic crashes involving Pennsylvania high school students, that the resolution to create NTDSW was introduced in 2007.

The initiative was supported by the traffic experts at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and State Farm Insurance Companies.  Together these two entities conducted a national survey which provided facts into the teen driving problem, including that while teens are aware of some driving dangers (such as drinking and driving), they may not realize the risks of other distractions and behaviors, such as fatigued driving, speeding, cell phone use, and driving with multiple teen passengers. The majority of crashes involving young drivers are caused by inexperience and driver error.

In all, the teen driving problem, which is that while teens are aware of some driving dangers (such as drinking and driving), they may not realize the risks of other distractions and behaviors, such as fatigued driving, speeding, cell phone use, and driving with multiple teen passengers. The majority of crashes involving young drivers are caused by inexperience and driver error.  This is why it’s imperative that we all spread the word, providing awareness both to parents and teens, in order to help make the teen driving environment safer!
